The Unlikely Version

Lifeblood is Australia’s national blood donation service. But, in reality, its impact goes far beyond blood, saving millions of  people each year through life changing platelet, stem cell, plasma and other biological product donations.

The challenge was to build awareness that Lifeblood did more than blood, by highlighting recipient stories and showing the extent of what generous Lifeblood donors had made possible for them.

To do this, we reimagined the beloved national tradition of Triple J’s ‘Like a Version’ (where iconic  songs are reinterpreted by Aussie artists) with a life saving message.

The Unlikely Version is a world first musical collaboration, made possible by blood, stem cell, plasma and platelet donors.

We brought together Lifeblood recipients (including Australian pop icon Tina Arena and rising star, Ngaiire) who were only alive because of donors and together they recorded a special interpretation of Sia’s ‘Unstoppable’. An unlikely version that, like the artists themselves, existed against the odds.

More than just a cover, or traditional awareness campaign, the Unlikely Version was a living tribute to the Aussie donors who make life possible.
